Powdered milk candies or in the local lingo polvoron can never be found anywhere in the world but here in the Philippines. Its one of the sweet delicacies you can take home for family and friends (pasalubong) who have been away from the country for a very long time and make them feel back at home again and bring memories of the old times.

As soon as I got home and put down my basket filled with polvoron from House of Polvoron(HOP) my sister and mom did not hesitate but finish the entire 20 pieces box of assorted flavored polvoron.

Yes , polvoron has flavors now, thanks to HOP, the first and only polvoron specialty store in the country today. They offer a wide range of polvoron variants including the Classic flavor, Pinipig, Cashew, Pili , Chocolate Cookies and Cream. An assorted box of 20 contains 5 pieces of four flavors (pinipig, cashew, pili and cookies and cream) and is sold at Php108.00 a box. Single variant is sold at Php99.00.

So far HOP remains a family business since it started in 1988 by MOTZ FOOD PRODUCTS (MFP) owned by Medardo “Ding” Caliwara and Rosalinda “Rose” Caliwara.

The first HOP mall cart opened in SM Megamall in 2003. At present, HOP has 4 mall branches located in SM Megamall (G/F Bldg A), Glorietta 4 Food Choices, Trinoma and Market Market. It is also distributed through major super markets such as SM Supermarket, Snack Exchange, Hypermarket, Savemore, Robinson’s Supermarket, Pioneer Center, Metro Gaisano in Metro Manila and in key cities in the provinces.

HOP is an expanding business, in fact they now cater to exporting the product, however they are not still open for franchising at the moment.
